Purpose
The purpose of the Theologian-in-Residence Program is to stimulate and challenge our thinking about issues of faith as they are informed by the Bible, religious traditions, and contemporary theological discussion.
 
2009 Theologian in Residence – Dr. Walter Brueggemann
Date: March 28-29, 2009

Walter Brueggemann is a well-known Old Testament scholar and ordained UCC pastor. He holds degrees from Elmhurst College, Eden Theological Seminary, and Union Theological Seminary. He was a long-time faculty member at both Eden Theological Seminary (Webster Groves, Missouri) and Columbia Theological Seminary (Decatur, Georgia). Dr. Brueggemann retired in 2003. He has been a prolific author of books and articles. Just a sampling of book titles include Theology of the Old Testament: Testimony, Dispute, Advocacy (2005), An Introduction to the Old Testament: The Canon and Christian Imagination (2003), Inscribing the Text: Sermons and Prayers of Walter Brueggemann (2004), and The Prophetic Imagination (2001).
