The United Church of Christ is a community of faith that seeks to respond to the Gospel of Jesus Christ in word and deed. The UCC was founded in 1957 as the union of several Christian traditions. From the beginning of its history, the UCC church affirmed the ideal that Christians did not always have to agree to live together in communion. The UCC motto—"that they may all be one"—is Jesus' prayer for the unity of the church. The United Church of Christ is one of the most diverse Christian churches in the United States.

Active members, affiliate members, and friends strive to do the will of God by

  • attending worship faithfully and partaking in communion
  • participating in the life and fellowship of the church
  • supporting the work and outreach of the church through the contribution of time, talents, financial resources, and prayer
  • inviting neighbors, family, and friends to join in fellowship

Members of UCC-Congregational embrace its purposes and accept its covenant. They join

  • upon presentation of a letter of transfer from another church, or
  • by reaffirmation of faith, or
  • upon confession of faith and baptism, or
  • confirmation of Christian faith
Affiliate members reside temporarily in the area and are members of churches elsewhere. They are received with the understanding that they will not lose their standing in their own local churches. Only full members have voting privileges as well as the ability to serve as an officer or on the executive board.
