Lay Leadership at Ames UCC
The Executive Board coordinates the activities of the church and acts on behalf of the congregation between congregational meetings. One member from each of the six teams, the moderator, vice moderator, clerk and one church delegate serve on Executive Board. The moderator is the chairperson. The pastor and treasurer are ex-officio members.
The Christian Education Team fosters, and publicizes programming for youth and adults that explores Christian beliefs. They encourage small groups with special interests as connecting points. To contact this team/leader, email them at [email protected].
The Financial Stewardship Team manages the solicitation, receipt, and deposit of financial contributions and provides routine management of the financial affairs of the church. The financial secretary and treasurer are ex-officio members. To contact this team/leader, email them at [email protected].
The Building Relationships Team promotes the well-being of congregants by nurturing their connection to others through small groups and activities. The team actively fosters growth in commitment among members to share their time and talents in response to God's mission. The Caring Network is a subgroup of the Building Relationships Team and offers help to members of the congregation in time of crisis or need. These efforts can include the cooking and delivering of meals, transportation, child or pet care, and even routine household chores. To contact this team/leader, email them at [email protected].
The Property Team oversees the property, grounds, and equipment of the church in cooperation with the staff. To contact this team/leader, email them at [email protected].
The Social Justice and Outreach Team researches and communicates local, regional, and global social justice issues and needs of the congregation and of the Ames community. They recommend special collections to the congregation and decide how funds collected for local and regional outreach should be disbursed. The Worship and Music Team supports the staff in planning and executing our weekly worship. They serve as and recruit ushers, greeters, and deacons on Sunday morning. To contact this team/leader, email them at [email protected].
