Worship is a service to the divine that transforms us.
Worship is a service to the divine that transforms us—through solace, through challenge, through fellowship—to work for justice and live in harmony with all creation. Join us for worship on Sundays at 10:00 a.m. in-person or online. For an online link, please email our church office ([email protected]). For directions to our church, look to the visitors page.
Our weekly service of worship generally follows a set pattern. Although it is structurally formal, our services are not staid or stiff. We value whole persons and whatever emotion or expression of faith you may bring, be it laughter or tears, silence or alleluias.

Our sanctuary.
It is our every intent to have our sanctuary, at 6th and Kellogg, really feel like a sanctuary. To that end, we continue to work to make it as accessible as possible.
Our elevator is on the east side, on Kellogg Street. Hearing enhancers and large print bulletins are always available. The sanctuary is air-conditioned in summer and heated in winter. Children are always welcome throughout the service (though parents of younger children may welcome the break provided through our nursery). Ames UCC worshippers are truly a diverse crowd: children, high school and college students, adults, and seniors worship at Ames United Church of Christ. More than half the congregants come from faith backgrounds other than the UCC. Laborers, professional people, unemployed, single people, couples, families—we are all here. Wear whatever feels comfortable, from shorts and T-shirt to a suit. There will be someone who is dressed similarly. |
